The Black Box by Michael Connelly Book Review

The Black Box (Harry Bosch, #18)The Black Box by Michael Connelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book opens back in May of 1992, the LA Riots are in full swing and Bosch is running from crime scene to crime scene taking pictures of murder victims and crime scenes before moving on to the next call out.

The politics of solving the murder of a White Woman ( Snow White) instead of, before or ever in the face of the many back deaths permeates the book and the mood even today. It is unfortunate that in the song of "Why the white woman and not the black youth", the cry of "Everyone matters or no one matters" is almost drowned out.

But Bosch is true to his internal compass. It is his relentless search for truth that draws us back again and again. It is the AMAZING story telling that makes it impossible to put Connelly's books down.

I lived in the LA Area during the riots and Connelly captures the feelings of the time and of this time 20 years later perfectly. he then weaves it into an unforgettable tale that is far more than just a murder of a white woman during the LA Riots.

Don't Miss another great story.
