Making Memories that Last

Christmas is a time for traditions and memories. Making memories and recalling Christmases past. This year my boys were telling me all the traditions we have. "Mom, don't forget we have to go get our ornament for the tree...Mom don't forget to put the Christmas Duck on the mantle...Mom where are the stocking hangers." This year I let them decorate the house and tree. It was fun watching the older one "remind" the younger one where I put things for Christmas.
We also sit around the tree and talk about Christmases past. "What was your best Christmas memory? Do you remember the year the tree fell on the presents?" Well I have found an app that can help preserve memories all year round FOREVER.

The app is called SavingMemoriesForever.com. I have an iPhone and it is awesome. I can "interview" people with my phone  or I can do it over Skype. It really is easy and pretty awesome. What a great way to preserve Birthday memories. At the end of a party you can "interview" your little one about his birthday and the party and save that adorable expression forever. Have elderly Grandparents? What about interviewing them about the first time they saw you? How they met? Where they got married? You can preserve the oral history of your family for generations to come. Or even interview your self about how you met your husband, what  the day of your kids births was like. These are all amazing stories that can get lost so easily. Don't forget to have your parents tell you the stories that have been passed down to them from the loved ones who have passed. Don't let their stories be forgotten either.

My husbands family immigrated here from the Philippines. The story of how they decided to come here and their struggles the first years they were here are so great for our kids to hear. It shows them how lucky they are to live in America and what their Grandfather was willing to sacrifice to come here.

I am sure that all of you have family stories that need to be preserved.  Preserve not just the story but the voice and face behind the story for generations to come.

  1. Dearest Mamalicious,
That is always a great way for preserving precious memories. Hearing the voice of a beloved Grandparent one more time is a blessing. Like your husband's family story with all the sacrifices. No possibilities to visit home for special days, emotional things that had to be digested 'alone' without sharing them.
Wishing you a blessed 2013 in good health.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  2. Thank you for your reply, Mariette. We really believe that the power of voice is so special. It adds to the memory just as much as the story. I hope you try out the app! Have a wonderful 2013!
