The Tech Monkey has not allowed me to photograph him in years. I have tons of blurry shots I tried to take of him with out his knowing it. It is almost like trying to capture Bigfoot. He is in the matching band and I can photograph him at will while he performs. This necessitated me learning
how to capture the best shots while he is moving.

Sports fans and Band Parents can #bringit with Canon cameras and lenses by capturing higher quality images and video of every game this season. - When you first arrive to the game, be sure to find the spot with the best lighting; stand in front of the light in order to capture the clearest shot.
- Set your camera’s shooting mode to an automatic high shutter speed to ensure that you catch the perfect shot of your team.
- Don’t be afraid to shoot from a different angle. Try standing at the top of the bleachers, on the highest hill or from standing low on the sideline in order to capture a variety of shots.
- Telephoto zoom lenses allow for optimal photo-documenting sport events and athletes at a distance.
Thanks for the tips. Very useful stuff here..
ReplyDeleteThose tips are very helpful. I compare taking pictures of my kids to taking pictures of big foot all the time LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhen my niece and nephew were younger, it was more like taking a picture of Speedy Gonzales or the Road Runner for me.
DeleteSpeedy Gonzales and Bigfoot. Both very fitting. And frustrating.
DeleteGreat tips. I'm a TERRIBLE photographer, but luckily my nephew loves the camera. Here's hoping you get a good shot of your sasquatch soon!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying. I am even afraid to delete blurry pictures in case he ever gets lost. I mean a blurry picture is better than no picture right?
DeleteGetting moving shots it so difficult. I don;t know how sports photographers do it!

Really good cameras and skill. I am not sure any camera can make up for complete lack of skill but they can make you look pretty good if you can hol still while pressing the button.
Deletei saw a rat on someone's front yard the other day and wanted to take a picture to prove it but it came out blurry and blended in with its surroundings
ReplyDeleteYou need a new telephoto lens. When you zoom in you lose a lot of definition.
Deletewe go to many gymnastic competitions throughout the years and the lighting is terrible.. lucky we have a photographer friend and teammate that takes out pics..
ReplyDeleteThat is very lucky. I wonder if he uses a Cannon?
DeleteThanks for all of the tips! I don't try to photograph Bigfoot or marching bands, but trying to get a good action shot of a soccer game this year has been super difficult!
ReplyDeleteThose action shots outside are the hardest.
DeleteHaving good light and fast shutter speed gets you ready for anything. I hope you get to photograph big foot.
ReplyDeleteI hope I get a good shot of Bigfoot one day too. Maybe at his wedding?
DeleteThis is great! I really want to learn how to use my camera better, especially having a son that plays sports.
ReplyDeleteSports is when it really becomes noticeable if you don't have a great camera.
DeleteGreat tips for taking quality pictures of moving objects. It is so hard to get the right shot when subjects are in motion. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteThank you for great tips. Next gadget on my list is a DSLR camera so I can learn to take great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI really need a new camera. Cannons are known for the best quality too.
ReplyDeleteCannons are known for their quality. And you can sometimes get a great deal at Best buy. Check out Slickdeals.com they have some great cannon deals right now.
DeleteI have to see if I have high shutter speed. Seems like a great tip.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteMake sure to bring a camera that has fast shutter speed. Only setting a slow one to automatic mode won't do much help either. ;) Lens must have auto-sensor.
ReplyDeleteGood tip to know.
DeleteGreat Tips here!
ReplyDeleteGood lighting helps in capturing good shots in sports photography. But it is still best to have a fast shutter speed camera. :)
You can't always control the lighting. Time of day and direction of sun are out of your control. But you do have control of choosing a great camera like the Cannon DLSR.
DeleteLove the tips. I need all I can get these days. I keep flipping to see which is the best one to use, and most of the time I'm only guessing anyway.
ReplyDeleteAt least you are not wasting film like the old days,
DeleteGreat tips. I love Cannon will have to check out their website again.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help. Cannons are great.
DeleteHandy tips. The light is definitely the one thing that causes most problems for me.
ReplyDeleteIt always seems like they are marching into the sun.
DeleteHa! that's funny about getting him in band. :) My camera is just a point and shoot and it blurs the moving pictures.
ReplyDeleteI know. we love our camera phones but sometimes you need a really great camera.
DeleteThanks for the great tips. I would love to get some non blurry action pictures of my son in his next bowling tournament.

DeleteCheck out the Canon line.
DeleteThanks for the tips. I have a Nikon that works great for action shots and I use my Canon video camera for all the other action.
ReplyDeleteMost still cameras now have a video option.
Deletei use canon also! but then i wanted to have a zoom lens 18-200+ something.
ReplyDeleteYou can get them for your canon.
DeleteI'm not much of a photographer but thanks for the tips. :)
ReplyDeleteNow you will have those when you want to improve.
DeleteI'm not good on photography. I lack the skill to produce quality photos. Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteWell at least you know where to go if you want to improve.
