Spring Cleaning- Tech Monkey Style

It is that time of year again. Yep that is right Spring Cleaning! If you are like me you hate doing it but LOVE the results. Even when the kids were little I had them help in the spring cleaning of their rooms. They could separate out the toys that they no longer wanted but were in good shape and the toys that they wanted to keep. This way I keep the clutter down thus making easier for them to keep their rooms clean.

This year the Tech Monkey schooled me on the best way to get rid of unwanted games. I went in to check on his progress on cleaning his room and found him on the computer. "Techie!" I started " You are supposed to be spring cleaning."
"I am." He replied calmly with out lifting his head from what he was doing.
"How does being on the internet clean your room?" I asked snarkily.
"I am using musicmagpie.com to sell my old games MOM."
"What?" I asked. As usual he is way ahead of me in the world of computers. He explained how he could enter his UPC codes, get a estimate of what his games are worth, then get a label to mail the stuff away and get a check. I was shocked. I thought we had to have a garage sale to get rid of stuff like that. Apparently they take DVD's and music too. They also tell you what it's worth before hand. Pretty Cool.

I should have known, if there is a way to do ANYTHING online the Tech Monkey would be doing it that way instead of the old fashioned way. He even uses his smart phone for reading the Bible. I didn't realize that they had apps for that. I was getting mad at him for not bringing his bible to church and he schooled me about how Kindle has an app for his phone and they have free bible e books. Who knew?

I am beginning to wonder if he plugs his head into the computer while he sleeps and has his data updated. I mean he always knows about these cool apps to make your life easier before I do. Now if I could just get him to put his underwear into the laundry basket....maybe there is an App for that?

  1. I did that with my Cd's. I imported all my CD's to my itunes and sold the actual CD's. It takes up so much space in your home - it's crazy.

Btw, have you done any home organizations?
If you have, link them up below:

  2. How does it seem that my 11-yr old can figure out ANYTHING on the computer - no manual, no directions? He just KNOWS where to click. Great idea to have him use the computer to sell some old stuff.

  6. When you find all these apps, let us know, dislike being the nag - put your laundry here, bring your dish in the sink, blah blah blah
