LONG BEACH, Calif. - April 7, 2014 - The Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, part of theRenaissance Hotels global portfolio, is pleased to announce the appointment of Janine Falvo as Executive Chef for the hotel and its SIP Lounge. Chef Falvo will be capturing the essence of Long Beach by creating a menu of local and diverse items from fresh caught fish to celebrating the best of local ingredients by offering up the finest organic meats, artisanal cheeses, and produce.

At SIP Lounge, Chef Falvo will be using an "Ocean to Fork" philosophy in everything that is prepared in the kitchen. With the Pacific Ocean and its countless fresh fish options just a few blocks away, seafood will be a highlight of the new, revamped menu. In addition to fresh, locally caught fish, SIP Lounge will also feature mainstay dishes featuring organic meats, artisan cheeses, locally grown produce and vegetarian options.

Falvo was most recently the Executive Chef at Briza and Rooftop 866, at the Renaissance Atlanta - Midtown, GA where she was a member of the conversion and opening team in Atlanta's most dynamic neighborhood.  She fostered a farm-to-table approach to locally inspired cuisine using seasonal ingredients from area purveyors and will continue that approach to cuisine at Renaissance Long Beach.

Falvo was also the chef de cuisine at Carneros Bistro and Wine Bar at The Lodge at Sonoma, CA where she garnered positive reviews by the San Francisco Chronicle. She spent two years as Executive Sous Chef at Parcel 104 at the Santa Clara Marriott, CA and was a key member of the opening team for Bradley Ogden/Marriott fine dining restaurant, specializing in seasonal farm fresh American fare, with numerous awards and recognition to follow. Chef Falvo was a contestant on Season 9 of "Top Chef," Rising Star Chef 2007, Restaurant Hospitality Magazine, January 2007; America's Most Buzzworthy Chefs amongst others.

After graduating from Pennsylvania Culinary, Janine spent several years perfecting her craft between Chicago and Florida. Her community involvement and passion for food is evident through the numerous special appearances and recognition throughout the years.
