Renaissance Hotel Long Beach- Foodie heaven

Please be advised that this post contains images of EXTREME Tastiness.
We cannot be responsible for your hunger becoming unmanageable.

I had the gastronomic pleasure of visiting Sip in the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach . The pictures you are
about to see are all real. The food is all FREAKING AWESOME. And you should get your butt down to Long Beach TONIGHT and taste this miracle for yourself. For those of you not in the KNOW, Renaissance Long Beach just brought Top Chef Janine Flavo on board to be their Executive Chef. A smarter move I cannot imagine. Chef Flavo has introduced a ocean to plate menu you that is to DIE for.

So we started out with Bacon Carmel Corn- Bacon makes all things wonderful but this was over the top.
Some Amazing Kale chips: Just spicy enough to keep you coming back for more.

TSome Chicken Strips: These were pounded thin but not too thin and then she made her own sriracha sauce. YUM!

Then we Moved on to...

Oysters on the Half Shell: Cold, kind of traditional except again with the  homemade sriracha sauce and everything right about the oysters. SUPER fresh and perfect.

As if that wasn't awesome enough, Oysters on the Half Shell Roasted, with a little butter and garlic. If my tounge could do a Happy dance it would have after eating these. Simply PERFECTION AGAIN.

Then to Prove she is the BOMB Diggity...
Oysters Stuffed and fried. I am not sure what to say except HOLY CRAP were they amazing.
So at this point I am thinking "How can she top these culinary delights..."

Well how about ahi tuna, compressed watermelon, basil, cilantro and Thia Chili all wrapped in a thin slice of jicama? BOOM! Almost too cute to eat.

Next came the Smoked Prawns, Puttanesca with fennel. I could have eaten these all night. At this point I had chosen a favorite and these were it.

So just to make me eat my words Chef Flavo presented  Charred Octopus, Gigante beans, Black Garlic ( new for me but WOW so good), calabrian peppers and grilled olives. the presentation in the little sardine cans was genius. And the flavors...no word can describe how fabulous these were.
So at this point my stomach is getting full but even better stuff was coming.

She switched it up a little by delivering this lighter dish of baby kale salad with green tea miso vinaigrette, plums, toasted coconut and cherries. The flavors and textures of this salad balanced perfectly giving a little tast of all things yummy with each bite.
Starting to get a little mellow now. We had been plied with Chef Janine's Strawberry Martini and filled with so many delightful tastes and treats....
And then she brought out the big guns. First this little delight of Asparagus Fondue with Parmesan and a quail egg on top. I never would have thought to put these all together but BABY it WORKS.( I am sharing the full sized order here.) SO good it should be illegal!

Just when I thought is couldn't get any better... Strip Steak and baby potatoes with a butter wine sauce that was so good I wanted to lick my plate...and the plate of everyone at the table.
So at this point I am still drooling about the master piece I just consumed and out comes dessert. I am not one to say no dessert. This Lemon Olive oil cake, with balsamic syrup, strawberries and olive oil powder was so perfect to finish off what we had just sampled. This is why hotels hire people like Chef Janine. Any one can cook a meal, but it takes an artist to create a work of art with food.
Downtown Long Beach has a million restaurants. Competition is fierce. But I think they all need to bow to the MASTER....Executive Chef Janine Flavo.

Now you can run down and have a meal or make a weekend of it. This Memorial Day Weekend Look what they have just for you.
