Indie Rights, A
Kid Detective Movie LLC, and Friday’s Films are pleased to announce the
world premiere of their co-production of The World Famous Kid Detective, an fun, updated take on the film noir
films of the 1940’s, complete with a pint-sized gumshoe in the
tradition of Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe, named Stanley Kid, who must
deal with wise guys, dames and, yes, danger in the course of his work. Before
he can get to the task of solving crimes, Stanley must first defeat his
nemesis, Clorissa Hodge, a Department of Children’s Services social
worker, who is intent on placing Stanley and his kid sister Nina in
foster care while their hospitalized mother recovers from a recurring
illness. Desperate for help from
his 18 year old cousin, Addison, who can act as legal guardian and keep
Stanley and Nina out of Ms. Hodge’s clutches, Stanley must first find
Addison’s missing cell phone before she will agree to his plan. Thus, his first case, The Case of the Filched Phone. If
that isn’t enough to keep a gum shoe busy, Stanley’s best friend, Ben,
is also a victim of a crime wave sweeping across his island home town: Skateboards around town are going missing. Hence, his second case: The Case of the Swiped Skateboard. Determined to solve both crimes and escape the evil grasp of DCS, Stanley is faced with another obstacle: His pesky kid sister who wants to join his P.I. agency. Forced to work together, Stanley sets off on his dangerous investigation with Nina in tow. Can he find the missing skateboards and Addison’s phone? Will Addison help keep him and his sister from the iron grip of DCS? Well, as Stanley says, “Trouble? Great. Come on in!” Just another day in the life of a working private eye.
Written by Margaret Langendorf, directed by Timothy Kelly, and Executive Produced by M.K. King, The World Famous Kid Detective is a co-production of A Kid Detective Movie LLC and Friday’s Films. “I’ve always been fascinated by those film noir movies of the 40’s,” says Screenwriter Langendorf. “I
thought updating the genre for today’s audiences with a young lead
would bring a fun and fresh take on a genre we typically associate with
Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe.” A perfect film for children between the ages of 7 to 11, The World Famous Kid Detective, is a film parents will also enjoy.

Review: This is a short but really cute movie. I am a Noir Film addict and this film dispersed detective clips from old noir films throughout the movie. I loved that little touch. The main character, Stanley is everything you expect from a 12 year old detective. I would recommend this film for families that are looking for a family film to watch together. If you have tweens this will hit you right in the sweet spot.
