The summer holidays are exciting for kids, but unfortunately, they can be a time of dread for adults. You don’t want the kids running around hyperactive with nothing to do by any means, so you should plan some fun things for you to do together to keep them occupied. You probably won’t be able to plan something for every single day, but you can try to fill the days up as much as you can! To help you out, here are some ideas on what you can do with them:
Take them to a Theme Park
It’s not a summer holiday without a trip to a theme park! You have plenty of options; Legoland, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, and Drayton Manor to name just a few. If you book the tickets in advance, you may even be able to get a discount. The queues might be long, but it’ll be worth it when you see the kids’ happy little faces.
Go on Holiday
You can always go on holiday with the kids - what’s stopping you? Yes, it might be slightly more expensive than if you were to take them during school time, but you don’t want a huge fine do you? You can find plenty of great deals online, like on Venere, for example. Take a look and see where you can go for a family getaway.
Bake Some Sweet Stuff
Cooking with the kids keeps them occupied for ages. Not only do they spend a good part of the day baking, but a good part eating what they’ve baked. This means they won’t bug you half as much as they do normally. They also learn a new skill!
Have Their Friends Round
This is a cheap option that’s sure to keep them happy. Not only that, your child’s friend’s parents may just return the favour, giving you a day of peace.
Start a Project
This could be anything; building something together, painting something, writing something - you name it. Make sure it’s got something to do with whatever they’re good at, so they enjoy it. The great thing about a project is that it isn’t usually finished in a day - it could take weeks! It’s a great idea to keep them occupied on days where you haven’t planned anything.
Learn a New Skill
Learning a new skill is a lot of fun, and will be great for them when they’re older. Why not teach them to play a musical instrument, or speak another language? Make sure you don’t force them to do anything they don’t want to do though.
Go for Walks
Walking will keep you all fit and healthy. You’ll get a nice dose of vitamin C, while breathing fresh air into your lungs. It’s much better than sitting in the house, bored!
Take Them Swimming
Swimming is fun, but it’s a valuable life skill too. Take them once a week in the holidays to improve their technique and make sure they can be safe around water.
Now you have no excuses during the holidays - go and have fun with your kids!
